This golf tournament is being put together in memory of Brandon Lafata; a son, brother, friend and teammate, with the intentions to raise awareness for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Brandon was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of six and he never let it stop him from living his life to the fullest. He excelled in the classroom and in sports. He loved playing golf, baseball and especially hockey. He attended both The Governor’s Academy and Masconomet Highschool, where he thrived on both the baseball field and on the ice for both schools. Once his Highschool days ended, Brandon decided he was best fit to enter the workforce and joined his family owned company The Clean Team full-time. His goal was to own and operate The Clean Team with one of his brothers. He came to work every day with a smile and set an example for everyone with his work ethic. Diabetes did not control Brandon’s life. He was able to play sports, hangout with his friends and family and enjoy his favorite foods; lobster and buffalo wings, just like everyone else. He is missed by more people than he could ever imagine and the loss of his presence is felt by everyone he knew him.
The purpose of this golf outing is to bring everyone who knew Brandon together to commemorate him and to raise some money and spread awareness of diabetes. My family grew up on The Ferncroft and this is where we learned to play golf. It is very special to us to be able to celebrate Brandon here and raise awareness for diabetes. Come join us on June 24th for a day of golf, food and celebration of Brandon for what should be a truly special day as we kick off the first BL9 golf outing. Above is the link to sign up, sponsor or donate. We are looking forward to celebrating Brandon!
